That’s according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Reports this week claimed Ronaldo wants a new deal even though he signed a five-year contract at the Bernabeu last November.

The Portugal international, 32, wants a bumper pay rise to stay in La Liga.

Ronaldo is also under investigation for tax evasion, much to the frustration of the Real Madrid ace.

And Balague says Ronaldo wants to earn the same amount as Barcelona talisman Messi and PSG’s Neymar (£22m-plus), as well as pocketing a bumper signing on fee.

When asked in a Twitter Q&A whether Ronaldo wants to equal Messi’s wages, Balague responded: “What is happening is the following.

“He wants a new contract but not just to equal Messi and Neymar (25m euros net plus) but also because he might have to pay 30m euros to the Spanish tax man.

“A sign on fee would sort that out. Real Madrid have promised him they will give him a new contract and they are talking.

“So expect a suggestion or two of him going to United as a way to put Real under pressure.”
