The Champions League matches for Spurs against Real Madrid are the biggest of his life and could change the course of his career.

Kane’s not a Lionel Messi or a Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s not on that level. But they are not centre-forwards.

Kane is, and he is already the best striker in the business for me. Better than Sergio Aguero or Romelu Lukaku. Better than Robert Lewandowski or Edinson Cavani.

I wouldn’t even say he’s a natural goalscorer like Gary Lineker was, but he can score goals from anywhere and he has a better football brain than anyone else.

You wouldn’t see Aguero or Lukaku threading the ball through the eye of a needle with a defence-splitting pass.

Kane does it and he also works hard for the team. He can do everything. He’s fast, strong, good in the air and can hold the ball up and find people.

More importantly, he just keeps on scoring goals – and all kinds of goals – in the hardest league in the world.

Ask Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho or Antonio Conte how hard it is here. They all agree.

Conte even said Kane would be his “dream signing” at Chelsea not so long ago and you can see why. He’s doing it in the best league.

Tottenham go to Huddersfield today and that is a hard game. The Terriers haven’t lost there yet this season and they will not roll over.

This league deserves more respect. It’s harder to score goals here than it is in Germany or Spain because if you play for a big team there, you know you can blow teams away on a regular basis.

You might think that sounds odd when Real Madrid got beat by Real Betis not so long ago, but I think they are prioritising the Champions League.

You don’t get beat by Betis and then go and blow Borussia Dortmund away a few days later otherwise. So Kane should get more credit. He’s doing it in the Premier League.

But Kane could score 300 goals and it would mean nothing if he never wins anything. He has to win trophies.

Can he do it at Spurs? You’d like to think so because they have a great team. But these two games against Madrid will show him how realistic that is.

Kane will know after those two games how close Spurs are to doing something special – or how far away they are.

It’s a bit of a no-win situation for Tottenham because if they get ripped apart he might start to doubt whether he can win things there.

But if he does the business, Madrid will be coming in for him and he could end up playing in a different white shirt. He’s good enough.

He would fit right in with the likes of Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

It’s a bind for Spurs because they are waiting for their new stadium.

They won’t be spending mega-money every summer to compete.

If they can sort their home form out they have a great chance of winning the Premier League.

But they are struggling at Wembley. And when they move next season, it could take another year for them to get used to the place. Kane will have to be patient if he wants to win the big trophies with Spurs.

And that’s obviously what they want because Mauricio Pochettino said recently he’s not that interested in the FA or League Cups. But he’s relentless so he just needs to be patient. This is a good Tottenham team.

I don’t think Kane is on a lot of money compared to other strikers around the world but I don’t think he cares about that. I think he wants to win trophies.

He said this week he’s building an extension to put his trophies in. What trophies? He needs to win some first.

Real Madrid will show him just how close he is to doing that with Spurs.

DAVID LUIZ is getting a bit lazy and he reminds me of David James at the moment.

James was an unbelievable goalkeeper but he was that good it became too easy for him and he’d lose concentration, earning him the nickname Calamity James.

It’s the same with Luiz. In the last couple of weeks Chelsea have been very, very good.

I haven’t seen a team do what Chelsea did to Atletico Madrid this week for ages. They ripped them apart in their own backyard.

But it was so easy Luiz switched off and let them back in the game by giving away a penalty. It was his second big mistake in a week.

It goes back farther, because I thought Aaron Ramsey’s winner in the FA Cup final was his fault, too. He’s just jogging back.

But I don’t think Chelsea should drop him. I think he needs to play through it. I’m sure Conte will have a word with him.

But he needs to be careful because he had a reputation in his first spell at Stamford Bridge for always giving you a chance in a game and he won’t want it back.

DAVID DE GEA is without doubt the best goalkeeper in the world right now.

It’s not even close either. Manuel Neuer and Thibaut Courtois are great keepers too but he’s making sensational saves week after week.

If United win the title he will have been a big reason why.

His save in the Champions League this week was world class, but it’s almost becoming normal for him. Some of the saves he makes are mind-blowing.

It took him a while to get used to playing in the Premier League but he’s the best keeper in it now. No-one else even comes close.

He’s playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world too and that brings a huge amount of pressure but he handles it so well.

If De Gea doesn’t get the credit he deserves in Spain it’s because he’s not playing there for Real Madrid.

But United know what they have – a world beater.
