Cristiano Ronaldo will use Man Utd to get a new Man Utd contract, says Guillem Balague

Cristiano Ronaldo wants a bigger contract than Lionel Messi and Neymar and he is willing to use Manchester United to get it.

That’s according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

He said: “What is happening is the following.

“He wants a new contract but not just to equal Messi and Neymar (25m euros net plus) but also because he might have to pay 30m euros to the Spanish tax man.

“A sign on fee would sort that out. Real Madrid have promised him they will give him a new contract and they are talking.

“So expect a suggestion or two of him going to United as a way to put Real under pressure.”

Ander Herrera insists he doesn’t mind playing second fiddle to the ‘master’ Nemanja Matic.

The 28-year-old explained: “There will be a lot of games this season, so we will sometimes play with two and sometimes with three, so we have a lot of solutions.

“Matic is a master, one of the best in the world in that position, and I think he is going to help us a lot. With [Michael] Carrick and Matic I have two mentors that I can learn from.

“I know I can play more forward than them, when we play with three, so I will be there for the manager whenever he needs me. Sometimes as number six, sometimes as number eight, sometimes No. 10.”

Romelu Lukaku will continue his good form for Manchester United tomorrow in the Premier League against Crystal Palace, according to Liverpool hero Mark Lawrenson.

He explained to BBC Sport: “Crystal Palace did well against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium last week - well, for 44 minutes anyway.

“Palace ended up being hammered, and the concern for their manager Roy Hodgson will be that the same thing happens when they return to Manchester on Saturday.

“Manchester United are flying at the moment, especially striker Romelu Lukaku, who just keeps on scoring.

“Hodgson will have had another week to work with his players on denying the opposition space, but I don't see them keeping United and Lukaku out.

“With Christian Benteke injured, it does not look good for the Eagles at the other end either, and their wait for a league goal might have to go on until after the international break.”
