At least that's what former Arsenal and England midfielder Paul Merson suggested while appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.

Klopp has spent the past two years in charge at Anfield after replacing the sacked Brendan Rodgers.

And there's optimism among many on Merseyside that he can lead Liverpool back to the top both at home and in Europe.

Klopp has previously been touted as a potential future Bayern manager and that speculation is likely to resurface in the wake of Carlo Ancelotti's Allianz Arena exit.

Starsport columnist Merson doubts whether the Bayern job would be appealing enough for Klopp to quit Liverpool though.

Merson told his Sky Sports Soccer Saturday colleagues: "If Liverpool can sort out their defence they will be big players in this league.

"That Bayern Munich team is aging. It is a million miles away from winning the Champions League now.

"They might win the German league but I wouldn't leave Liverpool for that."

Liverpool return to Premier League action against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Klopp's men will be looking to get back to winning ways following Tuesday night's 1-1 Champions League draw at Spartak Moscow.
