The France international chalked up his 100th Gunners goal during Thursday night's 4-2 Europa League win over BATE Borisov.

This summer it looked like he might not reach that milestone with his Arsenal future uncertain following the club-record capture of his countryman Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

Everton emerged as the most likely destination for Giroud, with Ronald Koeman desperate to replace new Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku.

The 30-year-old opted to stay put and fight for a place in north London though and a deal did not materialise.

Starsport reported claims last week that Koeman is set to go back in for Giroud in January with a £40m offer.

However, that speculation is wide of the mark.

Starsport has learnt Everton will not chase Giroud again as they look to add to their attacking ranks.

The Toffees are keeping their options open with three months to go before they can bring in reinforcements.

And that means they have no set targets in mind as they wait to see how forward players at Goodison Park and elsewhere perform as the season unfolds.

The lack of a No.1 striker at Goodison Park means Wayne Rooney, Sandro, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse are all in with a shout of nailing down a starting spot under Koeman.

That quartet all featured in Sunday's Premier League showdown with Burnley.

None of them managed to get on the scoresheet though as Sean Dyche's Clarets ran out 1-0 winners.
