The German coach, who is a favourite among the footballing media for his engaging press conferences, appeared uncharacteristically short of patience with reporters at St James’ Park following the game.

For the second time in a week following his outburst during a press conference in Russia, Klopp seemed to lose his composure after being quizzed on his team’s performance.

After a reporter suggested a draw might have been a fair result on the day, the former Dortmund man replied: “This was the first football game you saw? Interesting.

“Obviously we have different opinions.

“I thought we were the more active and the better side, we created more chances – didn’t we?

“Clear chances which we usually should use.”

After footage of the press conference made its way online, some fans began to speculate about Klopp's future at Anfield.

"He should be gone by January, he seems rattled," read one comment.

Another fan said: "Hope he figures it out, this team are too good to let Klopp down."

Daniel Sturridge was guilty of missing a golden opportunity to seal all three points after he failed to capitalise on a mistake from Ciaran Clark when put through one-on-one with goalkeeper Rob Eliot.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also missed with a header late on as Newcastle hung on for a hard-fought point to remain ninth in the Premier League table.

The Reds slipped to seventh, level on points with Burnley, after another disappointing result cost them further ground in the title race.
