Fabian Delph is set to be ruled out for England with a hamstring injury

The Manchester City midfielder’s shock return after two years away from the international scene looks like having to be put on ice.

Delph didn’t train with the Three Lions squad today after the players reported in at St George's Park.

It is believed the 27-year-old is suffering from a hamstring injury and looks certain to be ruled out.

Delph won the last of his nine caps against Spain in November 2015 and was called up by Gareth Southgate because of the ban hanging over Dele Alli.

He played a starring role in City’s 1-0 win at Chelsea at the weekend and was praised by club boss Pep Guardiola.

Phil Jones is also being assessed by the Football Association's medical team.

Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Michael Keane did a recovery session on Monday after their exertions on Sunday.
