Manchester United are reportedly planning to expand Old Trafford from its current capacity of 75,731 to a massive 88,000.

Plans are in the pipeline to upgrade the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand, which is at the side of the pitch behind the dugouts, by adding an extra tier.

Already the biggest club ground in England - and second biggest overall after Wembley - the planned expansion would propel United's home high into the top 20 largest football stadiums on the planet.

Many of the stadiums in the top 20 host national sides - and some are only used occasionally for football - but others are the home grounds of some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

But where would Old Trafford rank if the new capacity of 88,000 comes to fruition?
