That is the verdict of pundit and former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood.

United's French superstar has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to feature for at least another month as he steps up his recovery.

The Red Devils recently banned Pogba from partaking in any basketball, a sport he enjoys when he isn't playing football, to prevent any further damage.

But the former Blackburn skipper has described United's decision as 'very strange'.

When asked on Sky Sports show, The Debate, his thoughts on the matter, Sherwood responded: "In your contract it used to say you couldn't go skiing or anything dangerous like that.

"But I wouldn't wanna play basketball anyway.

"I've seen him on the beach doing it a few times but I think they're just using it as an excuse for his injury.

"More often than not, you get injured doing your trade, playing football or training."

And Sherwood continued to show how perplexed he was at the issue by asking who at the club authorised the ban.

"Who is saying it? Is it Jose? Is it the sports scientist?" added the 48-year-old.

"Obviously it's a hamstring injury and if he's not moving it around anyway then he's going to find it hard to jump up and put that ball in the basket."

"But I think it's very strange."

Pogba limped out of action as United beat Basel 3-0 in the Champions League last month.

He will not be involved as his team-mates take on Liverpool after the international break.
