Steven Gerrard thinks it is too early in the season to judge Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s side have won just once in their last seven games following Sunday-s 1-1 draw at Newcastle.

But their former skipper is adamant that time is on their side and Klopp is the right man to turn things around.

“We’re seven games into a Premier League campaign,” he said.

“There’s no time to panic. We’ve got a wonderful manager and coaching staff that are looking after these players.

“I think everything is fine. I’m not one that jumps on the bandwagon and listens to criticism after seven games.

“I used to judge myself and the team I was playing in at least 10 or 15 games into the season so let’s see where we are then.”

The Reds are unbeaten in their three league games since their 5-0 thrashing at Manchester City and are seventh in the Premier League, just a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

And Gerrard, who is currently in charge of Liverpool’s under-18s side, believes Liverpool can repeat last year’s success.

He added: “I’ve got every confidence we’ll be in the top four and everything will be a little happier than it is at the moment.

“What the Liverpool team have to do at the moment is stick together and see where they are in four or five games’ time.”

Liverpool have a tough set of fixtures facing them after the international break, with a Champions League trip to Maribor sandwiched in between Premier League tests against high-flying Manchester United and Tottenham.
