The Magpies have been rumoured to be the subject of interest from businesswoman Amanda Staveley.

The financier was spotted at Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Liverpool before the international break and reportedly met the club's hierarchy and Benitez after the game.

Staveley is weighing up whether to buy the club through her firm PCP Capital Partners but has not made a formal offer for the Tyneside outfit yet.

And in typical Benitez fashion, the Spaniard refused to be drawn too much on the rumours.

“It doesn’t change our approach in terms of what we have to do,” he told the Chronicle.

“We just have to keep working and looking forward at players in different positions.

"Maybe if you have more money you can go from this player to this player but what you’re looking for is the characteristics of the players.”

Toon chief Mike Ashley has made no secret of his desire to sell the club if a bid matches his valuation.

And on the pitch, Newcastle have been doing well this season.

Benitez's men have only tasted defeat once in their last five outings and sit in the top half of the table at present.

The club now looks like an attractive business venture after their return to the top flight.
