The duo have spent the past three years plying their trade together at Anfield following Can's arrival from Bayer Leverkusen.

And they've both been tipped for big things as their careers progress at club and international level respectively.

Can has now opened up on what it's like to play alongside former Inter Milan man Coutinho at Liverpool.

And it seems he believes the hype around the Brazilian is more than justified.

Can said: "I never saw a talented player like him, he has everything.

"On the ball he is just amazing. It is very difficult to play against him.

"He can score goals, he shoots very well. He can just do everything with the ball."

Can's comments about Coutinho came as he constructed his ultimate XI.

The Germany international included someone else with a strong connection to Liverpool - Steven Gerrard.

On the Reds legend, Can said: "Everybody knows how good he is and how good he was. I was a lucky guy to share the same pitch with him in the same team.

"Off the pitch, I have to say that as well. He is and he was a leader. He helped me a lot when I came to Liverpool and he helps everyone new who comes to Liverpool."

Can and Coutinho are back on Liverpool duty on Saturday when they welcome rivals Manchester United to Anfield (12.30pm).
