The Liverpool winger was substituted in the 89th minute of Senegal’s 2-0 victory over Cape Verde at the weekend, and his club have now confirmed he picked up a hamstring problem.

Mane has been one of the Reds’ best players since he arrived last summer and had only just returned from a three-match ban following his red card against Manchester City last month.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have some genuinely crucial matches coming up in the next few weeks, both in the Champions League and Premier League.

If the six week diagnosis proves accurate, Mane could be back in the fold in time for the showdown with Chelsea at Anfield on 25 November.
