That’s the verdict of former Red Devils star Andy Cole, who’s spoken out ahead of tomorrow’s showdown at Anfield.

Liverpool and United are England’s most successful clubs with a combined 38 league titles won between them.

United are well out in front of their rivals in the Premier League era though, with Liverpool yet to win the competition since it was formed in 1992.

Cole says the meeting of the north-west giants is still a huge game for both clubs.

But he admits Liverpool’s failure to challenge for the title over the past 27 years has slightly altered his outlook on it.

Asked if United’s rivalry with Liverpool or Manchester City was bigger during his career, Cole told The Sun: "Liverpool for sure."

And asked about how it stands now, he said: "Liverpool’s always going to be big, with the history, the European Cups… but it’s changed a bit because they haven’t been challenging for the title.

"But it’s still a massive, massive game."

Cole suggested United’s encounters with City now have more bearing in their hopes of winning trophies though.

On the derby with City, he added: "It takes more prominence because they can win the league but Liverpool is still bigger."

United can open up a 10-point lead to Liverpool if they win tomorrow.
