The former England Under-21 international made waves as he rose through the ranks of the Reds’ academy as a youngster.
Despite being tipped for big things at Anfield he made just one senior appearance for Liverpool - coming on as a substitute against Northampton in the League Cup.
Ince walked away from Merseyside upon the expiry of his contract in 2011 and ended up at Blackpool.
Ince forged a formidable reputation as one of the Championship’s top stars over the course of the subsequent two years.
And a return to Liverpool was touted as a distinct possibility as Brendan Rodgers looked to freshen up his squad.
Ince was now opened up on how it felt when he wasn’t allowed to re-sign for his old side.
Ince told The Telegraph: "Liverpool was very close but the Blackpool chairman did not want to be out of pocket because Liverpool owned a percentage of the sell-on fee.
"He made it difficult and they would not let me go. That was disappointing because I felt I would have been given a chance under Brendan Rodgers."
Ince also explained why he opted to reject a move to Inter Milan three years later.
The 25-year-old added: "When Inter were interested in me I stood in the San Siro and the English boy inside me told me to go to the Premier League."
