Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho thinks his side will embrace the Anfield atmosphere

United face bitter rivals Liverpool on Merseyside in what promises to be one of the biggest clashes of the season.

There is no love lost between two of the world's biggest and most successful clubs.

United's stars are guaranteed to face a powder keg atmosphere.

But Mourinho has told the home fans to bring it on - because it will inspire his players.

He said: "This is quite funny for me when people speak about big atmospheres.

"It looks like we don't like them and it's a problem for us to go to a certain place.

"But this is what we want. I am surprised you speak about that in a negative way, I am surprised when I hear former big players speak about atmospheres like it is something sinister.

"It motivates us, if we could have every match like this we would have every match.

"We are speaking about Old Trafford, or Anfield in this case, like it's a big problem.

"It's a satisfaction and it's what we want.

"I never see a player complain that 'this atmosphere is very strong.'

"When we don't play at home and don't see big enthusiasm with the people, we complain.

"We go to play against a big team with a great tradition in an amazing stadium, we know the fans have a huge animosity against Manchester United historically, but this is what we want.

"We have these beautiful conditions, it's beautiful to play at Anfield."

Mourinho will be without injured trio Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick.
