It had been feared that the Frenchman would be sidelined until mid-December after picking up a “long term” hamstring strain during United’s Champions League clash with Basel in September.

But, in a now-deleted Twitter post, Pogba uploaded a video captioned “baby I missed you” showing himself pulling on a pair of football boots to take part in some light sprinting exercises.

The tweet stayed up for only 10 minutes – but it was long enough for United supporters to grab it, reposting the clip online.

Pogba could be set for a return to action quicker than anticipated

Later, Pogba uploaded a separate video to his Instagram feed showing the former Juve man working out on a versaclimber exercise machine.

Almost two million people have since seen the video, leaving fans salivating at the thought of his return.

“We miss you maestro,” said one viewer..

Another wrote: “Could have done with you against Liverpool, they were there for the taking.”

“See you soon big man, we’ll be top of the league again in no time,” added a third.

It is unlikely Pogba will be back in time for United’s trip to Benfica in midweek, but with vital games against title rivals Chelsea and Spurs on the horizon, his return would be the perfect boost.

Star striker Romelu Lukaku has fired back at critics who claimed he does not perform against the big teams after being held to a stalemate at Liverpool.

“Sometimes it is difficult when you play against the top teams and you play not to win and don’t really create chances. It is really difficult,” the Belgian explained.

“Now I am in a team where we want to win against the big teams and we want to win every game, so I think the situation will change.”
