Harry Kane has been praised in Spain

On the day Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane began his courtship of of the England striker Kane, the Spurs boss spoke of the 24-year-old’s bond with the club.

He revealed how Kane had become very emotional watching scenes of Francesco Totti’s last game for Roma in May, where he spent 25 years as a player before bowing out aged 40.

“The most important is that he’s happy at Tottenham and as for the future who knows where we’ll be,” he said Pochettino.

“He enjoys Tottenham, he comes from the academy, he identifies with the club. Only football knows the future.

“For me, he’s a player who likes scoring, loves the Tottenham shirt and was excited when he saw Totti’s farewell in Rome and that creates extra motivation.

“Harry was so emotional when he saw that last game of Totti for Roma - only playing at one club, Maybe Harry can have the same career as Totti.

“I hope he stays with us for a long time because has great quality and is a great pro and a model for his team-mates.”

Kane faces Madrid in the Champions League tonight, a competition the Spanish giants have won for the last two years.

But Pochettino insisted the England ace would not be fazed and would treat Madrid the same as Bournemouth, who Spurs beat 1-0 on Saturday.

“Players of such quality are not nervous or troubled before either Real Madrid or Bournemouth,” Pochettino added.

“They feel the same, they are winners, warriors, they want to win and be ready in a team fighting for three points.”

Pochettino’s claim about Kane being be a one-club man came soon after Zidane raved about the hitman.

“He is a very important player, he is a key player for Tottenham, he is very good at everything,” said Zidane.

“What he does is always towards the goal, he attacks space at speed, and he is very good.

“He is a complete player – he didn’t seem to be but in the end he is.

“We know he is a good player and things are going very well for him.”

Zidane’s comments brought back memories of his public enthusiasm for former Spurs star Gareth Bale, who he raved about on at an event in London while he was Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Madrid.

The Welshman subsequently joined Madrid for £86m in September 2013, although he is out of tonight’s clash with a calf problem.

Respected Spanish paper Marca - who have close contacts with Real Madrid - put Kane on their front page and described him as the perfect finisher, claiming everything he touches turns into a goal.
