The Red Devils remain unbeaten after eight games of the Premier League season following Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Liverpool.

Although the tactics deployed against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at Anfield meant their performance differed markedly from their previous swashbuckling showings.

Mourinho has come in for plenty of flak following the stalemate, with accusations that he deliberately set up his United team to just get a point.

Yorke has now offered his take on his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson in comparison to Mourinho - suggesting how the former was different to the latter.

Yorke told beIN SPORTS: "Sir Alex Ferguson was a different manager [to Mourinho], he understood the Manchester United way of playing.

"He instilled a lot of confidence in us and made us feel that we could go to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal back in the day and overturn them, not just go there and get a draw but to to go there and win a game.

"So we were pretty confident whether we were playing at home or away. We had a winning mentality to go to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal and certainly get a result.

"So Sir Alex Ferguson’s approach to games was a winning attitude and a winning mentality and that’s how we approached it back then."

United sit second in the Premier League following the Liverpool result, two points behind leaders Manchester City.

They return to Champions League action tomorrow night when they take on Portuguese giants Benfica at the Estadio da Luz.
