Mourinho has been linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain following an interview he gave to a French media outlet last weekend, in which he praised the French capital.

He is just 18 months into his current four year deal at Old Trafford and admits no talks with United bosses to extent it have taken place.

Mourinho claims he has no interest in joining PSG, but also reckons he will not finish his managerial career with United.

But Young reckons the team are heading towards another golden era with Mourinho in charge and he said: "If you look at how well we did last season with the trophies, winning the Europa League was massive.

"The way we've started this season, hopefully we can build on that.

"The manager is in his second season and starting to show how well we can progress under him."

United face Benfica in Lisbon tomorrow night looking to make it three wins from three in the Champions League.

But Young is expecting a tough encounter and he said: "We expect a tough game. Benfica haven't won the (Portuguese) league for no reason.

"Benfica have also reached the last eight and last 16 of the Champions League in the past.

"We know this will be difficult and with our manager coming from Portugal, it will also lift them even more for this game."

Young, meanwhile, has refused to accept his England career is over for good, despite not winning a cap since 2013.

He added: "I'll always have the ambition to represent my country. It's an honour and if the manager calls then I'll be delighted. I'd be grateful."
