In a game billed as a meeting between two of Europe’s most exciting attacking sides, City lived up to the hype early on with two goals inside the first 13 minutes.

Raheem Sterling gave them the lead in the ninth, before Gabriel Jesus doubled their advantage just four minutes later.

Napoli were awarded a penalty in the 34th minute after Kyle Walker pulled down Raul Albiol in the box, but Dries Mertens saw his penalty saved by City goalkeeper Ederson.

The Italian outfit eventually got themselves back in the game in the second half, with Amadou Diawara scoring from the spot after Fernandinho brought down Faouzi Ghoulam to give the away side their second penalty.

But City held on to win the three points and maintain their 100% record in Group F.
