Scholes won 11 Premier League titles during his illustrious spell at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils hero, Rio Ferdinand and Gerrard were on BT Sport tonight during the broadcast of United’s Champions League clash with Benfica.
The trio were talking about Jose Mourinho’s tactics against Liverpool on Saturday, which saw the Red Devils earn a point at Anfield.
And Reds legend Gerrard actually defended the Special One.
“He is (a proven winner),” Gerrard said of United boss Mourinho.
“I’ll have to disagree because if United go on and do win the league, I think there will be enough games where they turn it on and wipe the floor with teams.
“People will then look back at maybe that point at Liverpool and go ‘that was very clever tactically, he set up well, he stifled Liverpool’.
“Maybe that’s the point that clinches it.”
Gerrard then went on to discuss his lack of Premier League winners medals, which was news that brought a smile to Scholes’ face, as you can see from the video above.
“Obviously these lads are a bit different to me in terms of they have won many leagues and they’ve played in really, really exciting teams,” he added.
“For someone who hasn’t won the league, for me I see it more as clever management and tactically spot on, if you go on and win it.”
