Manchester United are set to hand numerous players fresh deals at Old Trafford.

The Sun claim Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jones will get new contracts before Christmas.

An Old Trafford source said: “You’ll be seeing a huge raft of renewals over the coming weeks before the festive period.

“It is sort of a positive PR roll out, to keep everyone happy from the playing staff to the fans.

“There are at least four and possibly more all getting rises and extensions on Jose’s say so.”

Chelsea must spend big in January but it may be too late to mount a Premier League title charge, Blues hero Chris Sutton claims.

The Blues have had a hit-and-miss start to the season under Antonio Conte this time out.

And BT Sport pundit Sutton says Conte needs to splash the cash in the January but City and United could have extended their lead in the Premier League by then.

When asked if Chelsea need to make additions when the transfer window opens, Sutton exclusively told Starsport: “The issue is he hasn’t spent already.

“It would be logical for him to spend in January but will they still be in Europe then? I think so.

“But domestically, it may be all a little bit too late. He can only focus on what’s in front of him. January will be important for Chelsea.”

Arsenal and United are tracking Monaco youngster Ruben Vinagre.

The Monaco defender is yet to make an appearance for the Ligue 1 giants and has been shipped out on loan to Wolves.

However, Portuguese newspaper Record say Arsenal and United are readying moves for the 18-year-old left-back despite his limited game time.
