Man City star Kevin De Bruyne thinks one of the Manchester clubs will win the title

The Belgian has been unstoppable this season, scoring twice and providing seven assists so far, as City have won all but one of their matches.

Just two points separate City and rivals Manchester United at the top of the Premier League and De Bruyne hopes his side can keep winning matches to keep ahead of their neighbours.

When asked by ESPN FC whether he thinks one of the Manchester sides will win the league, he said: “For the moment I think so.

“But everybody's still there. It's so early, if you lose two or three games you go back to a [lower] position. We have to maintain this hopefully.

“I think last year we played good football but especially in the big games we didn't win them.

“At the moment, we are playing maybe a little bit better, but we're just building on what we did last year and for the moment everything is going well. But we'll put hard work into it and we have to keep going."

Pep Guardiola arrived at the Etihad last summer but could only guide his side to a third-place finish in his first season.

They’ve started the season strongly, scoring 29 league goals already, and De Bruyne believes Guardiola’s ideal team is finally starting to take shape.

He added: "I think we're pretty much what he wants.

Manchester City have scored 29 league goals in their opening eight matches

"Obviously one game is going the better than the other ones and one time we will look more like his team than another, but I think the way we play is always the same.

"We play dominant football and like to put a lot of pressure on them and if you can do that, it works well. It's hard to go full pace all the time but at the moment everyone is in great shape."

Manchester City top their Champions League group after their third win in as many matches against Napoli on Tuesday.

They return to league action this weekend as they host Burnley.
