Mesut Ozil scored his first goal of the season for Arsenal yesterday

The German midfielder controlled the game yesterday, scoring once and providing another, as Arsene Wenger’s side triumphed 5-2 at Everton.

Ozil has struggled for form so far this season and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but Keown admits that he looked like a player that wants to be at the club.

"I've been very critical,” he said.

“We're nine games in and suddenly he's turned up. He knitted everything together.

"He's not been closing down. But he has a vision very few players have.

"It was a different head that he played with today. That was a goal with great quality and conviction, he headed it with conviction and I've questioned that."

Ozil created eight chances for Arsenal at Goodison Park, more than any other player has achieved in the Premier League so far this season.

Alexis Sanchez was also on the scoresheet yesterday and both players are free agents next summer, but they looked committed to Arsenal as they helped Wenger to his second win in three days.

It fires them up to fifth in the Premier League table, level with fourth-placed Chelsea, but still nine points behind leaders Manchester City.

The Gunners return to action tomorrow night as they host Norwich in the EFL Cup, before they face Swansea in the league on Saturday.
