The United manager received a huge amount of flack after setting his side up negatively against Liverpool at Anfield.

The spotlight was then thrust further onto Mourinho and his stars after the Terriers stunned the Red Devils on Saturday afternoon.

Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was known for his hostile dressing rooms rants after losing matches, and according to The Sun, the Portuguese coach has followed suit.

It is reported Mourinho threw his coat to the floor in anger in the wake of the loss.

Before firing a warning to his players by announcing they face losing their first team place if they fail to atone for the defeat.

However, the former Chelsea boss was uncharacteristically gracious in his post-match interview against David Wagner's side.

Mourinho explained: “The team that started with emotion, aggression, intensity, desire, that played the game of their lives was the team that won.”

After the majority of United's players headed straight for the team bus on Saturday evening, Juan Mata addressed the performance in his weekly blog, saying: “We were on a very positive run of results but we didn’t play a good game.

"We knew this moment would arrive sooner or later, although that’s something you never wish for.

“Now, it’s time to learn from mistakes and keep going, as we always do, showing that the team sticks together when things don’t go so well, which is when we need it most.”

Mourinho takes his side to Swansea tomorrow in the latest round of the Carabao Cup.
