Arsenal Women's Jodie Taylor 'completely open' to outside offers

Jodie Taylor is closing in on her American dream and has revealed she could walk away from Arsenal Women this winter.

The England striker is tied to Arsenal until December but said she is "completely open'' to offers following her Euro 2017 Golden Boot success.

That announcement will alert leading women's clubs across the world, with Taylor having shown with stints in the United States, Canada, Australia and Sweden that she is happy to play overseas.

Eventually Taylor intends to settle on the U.S. west coast, having studied at Oregon State University and later played for the Portland Thorns. She is close to securing the necessary green card.

If the 31-year-old moved abroad again, it could be viewed as a fresh setback to the Women's Super League. The competition has already seen England stars Lucy Bronze and Toni Duggan move to Lyon and Barcelona respectively this year.

Asked whether she might leave Arsenal, Taylor said: "I'm open to it. My contract's up in December and I'm open to every option that's thrown my way -- we'll see.''

Her career has been defined by a have-goals, will-travel principle but Taylor wants to put down roots.

"I think I'm ready to settle in one place -- it's just finding the place,'' she said. "I felt at the time in Portland that it was home, and eventually it will be -- west coast in America.

"I'm almost in the last part of the process of getting my green card. That's always been in the works. That's a long-term plan.''

Speaking at the FA Women's Football Awards, Taylor added: "Football's such a short career and a small window that I want to make the most out of football, wherever that is. So that's why I'm completely open [to offers].''

Taylor's stock has never been higher. Five goals for the Lionesses in Holland helped the team reach the semi-finals and could trigger the latest move in a career that has seen her already play for 12 clubs.

Off the pitch, she has recently been a staunch supporter of Mark Sampson amid allegations of racism and bullying from Eni Aluko.

Sampson denies the claims from Aluko, and in that regard has been cleared by two investigations. However, a previously undisclosed inquiry into his conduct when at Bristol Academy saw the Welshman sacked as England manager on Wednesday.

Taylor was speaking about her future prior to the news of the claims regarding Bristol and Sampson's departure.

She scored the second goal in England's 6-0 win over Russia on Tuesday at Tranmere, the club where she began her nomadic career.

For the next few months at least, Arsenal will hope there are plenty more goals to come from Taylor.

The WSL season begins this weekend and Arsenal start with a home game against Birmingham on Sunday.

There will be plenty of attention too on Arsenal's four Dutch players, three of whom started in Holland's 3-0 win over England in the Euro 2017 semifinal. Holland went on to lift the trophy.

"They're not gloating too much,'' Taylor said. "We're happy to have them on our team now.''
