Aguero, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Morata up for Premier League monthly prize

Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are among the nominees for the Premier League Player of the Month after helping Manchester City to a perfect record in September.

Pep Guardiola's side took over at the top of the table after a record of four wins, with 17 goals scored and none conceded.

Aguero scored five times, including a hat trick in the 5-0 win over Watford, as well as contributing three assists despite missing the 1-0 win away to champions Chelsea with a fractured rib.

De Bruyne scored in that game -- his first of the season -- and contributed a further three assists during the month.

The City pair face competition from Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who after failing to score in August, hit six goals in four matches.

Chelsea's Alvaro Morata and Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku are both up for the award for a second consecutive month following their big summer transfers. Morata scored four times, including a hat trick away to Stoke City while Lukaku scored once in each of United's four matches in September and added an assist in the match at former club Everton.

German midfielder Pascal Gross becomes Brighton's first ever player to be nominated after two goals and two assists helped the newly promoted club to six points in September.

Newcastle United defender Jamal Lascelles makes up the list after back-to-back winning goals against Swansea and Stoke.
