The mayor of Liverpool has added to the pressure on Everton manager Ronald Koeman by questioning the team's progress this season. Everton strengthened a number of positions with expensive signings over the summer but have made a slow start to the Premier League campaign, winning only once in seven games to sit 16th. A late Wayne Rooney penalty rescued a point for Everton against newly promoted Brighton on Sunday, a result that has increased speculation about Koeman's position as manager. Anderson said on Twitter: "Koeman will be judged by results,this was another poor one & poor performances v very poor side. I ask have any players improved under him?" However, he added: "Most fans wanted him so think he should be given a bit more time. He is clearly the problem but not sure he can find solution" Following the game, which followed a 1-0 defeat to Burnley before the international break, Koeman said: "I think we deserved something out of the afternoon. "We know we can play better, but the commitment and belief was really positive. At least it's one point."
