Man United's Romelu Lukaku focused on trophies not goals after CSKA brace

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku says he is targeting trophies rather than just goals this season after getting two more against CSKA Moscow.

Lukaku made it 10 goals in nine games since his £75 million move from Everton with a brace in Russia.

The Belgium international has scored in his last five games for United, but the 24-year-old says he has not set himself a target for the season other than winning silverware.

"I just want to win trophies," he told BT Sport. "We are doing well at the moment so we have to keep going.

"We performed well today and we have to improve because it's still early in the season, but I am happy with the win and the form we are in."

United's second Champions League victory of the season was made possible with an impressive first-half display against CSKA that saw Lukaku score twice and Anthony Martial add another from the penalty spot.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored in the second half before Konstantin Kuchaev scored a stoppage-time consolation for the home side.

It leaves United in control of Group A with six points from six ahead of a double-header with rock bottom Benfica after the international break.

United defender Chris Smalling said: "Scoring those goals in the first half, that's probably the best first half we have played all season.

"To come here in arguably one of our toughest games in the group I think it's testament to our team. We are showing we can adapt, play different formations and play in different ways.

"It has set us up nicely and we can't ask for anything more. If we can keep up this form, hopefully we can finish top of the group."
