Real Madrid could face Auckland City in Club World Cup trophy defence

Real Madrid will face New Zealand side Auckland City, Abu Dhabi's Al Jazira or the the Asian Champions League winner in the Club World Cup semifinals.

Madrid are aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back Club World Cups, having already made history by retaining the Champions League trophy last season.

The draw for the competition, which takes place in Abu Dhabi, was made on Monday.

Host team Al Jazira face Auckland in the opening game on Dec. 6, with the winner facing the Asian Champions League winner in the quarterfinals. Madrid enter in the semifinals, to be played on Dec. 13.

CONCACAF champions Pachuca, of Mexico, will take on the African Champions League winners in the last eight.

The final will take place at the Zayed Sports City International Stadium on Dec. 16.

In last year's final, played in Japan, Madrid came from behind to defeat Kashima Antlers 4-2 after extra time, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hat trick.
