The mercurial Welsh midfielder scored a wonder goal in the Gunners' 4-1 win over Galatasaray to safeguard their progress to the last 16 of the Champions League.

Ramsey was a doubt for the clash against Magpies, and Wenger has revealed he won't play any part at the Emirates.

"He only had a scan last night, but I don't know full extent of injury," Wenger said.

"It's a shame because he was getting close to matching last season's form."

Laurent Koscielny, Mikel Arteta (both calf) and Nacho Monreal (foot) won't feature either.

However, Wenger said Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck who were all rested for the win over Galatasaray, are "fit and available" as well as Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Flamini.
