Mikel Arteta is yet to sign a new deal at Arsenal

The Spaniard - whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2016 - has reportedly been offered a one-year extension.

However, nothing has been signed because the 32-year-old is understood to be holding out for a longer deal.

Arteta has been out with a calf problem since November, but could return to action at some point in April.

“He is back in full training today,” Wenger said. “I think he will be back in three weeks.

“There is no movement on his contract, not yet no.

“I would like him to stay on. He has huge experience and is very important to the squad.”
