Arsene Wenger preaches caution after Jack Wilshere's Arsenal return

ARSENAL must be patient with Jack Wilshere or risk losing him again to injury.

That is the warning Arsene Wenger has given after finally being able to field his star midfielder in competitive action yesterday.

Wilshere, 23, was a second-half substitute in the Gunners' 3-1 win at Hull, where he made his first appearance since November.

An ankle problem has dogged his season and forced him to sit out of Arsenal's key Champions League and festive Premier League fixtures.

And while he returns just in time to stake a claim for an FA Cup final place later this month, Wenger insists he will take it steady with Wilshere.

“It’s great and he’s sharp,” Wenger told arsenal.com.

“Maybe he felt too sharp because he wanted to always make the difference but it’s good.

“You could see that he has found his burst again.

"Let’s be patient with him, not too demanding either. It is interesting that he’s back.”

Arsenal have four games of the league season remaining before their Wembley clash with Aston Villa.

They play Swansea this weekend before a trip to Manchester United and then host Sunderland and West Brom in the season run-in.
