Wenger: West Brom loss a 'big blow'

"It is a least two months but I'm cautious as we had so many bad surprises on scans that I do not want to speculate more than that," Wenger said.

The news comes as a blow to Arsenal who looked set to be mounting a serious title challenge this season.

Arsenal have been plagued by injuries all season long

However, their considerable injury list could hamper their chances and Wright believes it's a real 'kick in the guts'.

"When Francis Coquelin went down at The Hawthorns on Saturday, you could hear the groans from Gunners fans around the world," he wrote in The Sun.

"That’s how important the Frenchman has been to Arsenal – and that’s how massive the blow is to their chances of lifting the Premier League.

"The 2-1 defeat at West Brom was harmful enough to those hopes. But the loss of Coquelin until the New Year with damaged knee ligaments is the real kick in the guts.

"I am absolutely distraught at the news, both for the kid himself and personally as an Arsenal fan."
