Arsene Wenger admitted he nearly signed Kingsley Coman.

The Frenchman was keen on signing the then Paris Saint-Germain winger in 2014 before he joined Juventus instead.

Coman is currently on a two-year loan deal at Bayern Munich, and Wenger has revealed how close he came to bringing the 19-year-old to the Emirates.

“Yes we really tried to sign Kingsley Coman in the summer of 2014,” Wenger told beIN sports.

“The transfer was almost completed, but he preferred Juventus.”

Arsenal are set to be without Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla for their final Champions League group game against Olympiakos.

Sanchez limped off with a hamstring problem against Norwich, while Cazorla sustained a knee ligament injury.

The Gunners need to beat Olympiakos to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

A report in the Daily Telegraph claims the full scan results for the players will be known tomorrow and it is feared Sanchez could be out for a month.

Calum Chambers got some much-needed game time for the Gunners in an Under-21s match last night.

Wenger is in desperate need of holding midfielders, with Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta on the sidelines.

And according to the , Chambers played in a central midfield role to help prepare him for the jam-packed Christmas schedule.
