The 20-year-old has enjoyed an impressive pre-season with the Gunners, scoring three goals, including a first-half strike in yesterday's friendly with Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger has insisted the Nigeria international, who has been capped six times, will have to fight for his place in the starting XI this term.

"He fights for his place like everybody. We have a strong but reasonable squad," Wenger said.

But Iwobi has revealed he is determined to become a regular after breaking into the side last season.

Iwobi told Arsenal’s official website: “The challenge for me is to play as many games as I can, and to try to use the opportunities I get.

“Hopefully I can try to get as many goals and assists as I can.

“It’s been pre-season and we’ve done alright, so the main thing is just to take that into the season. We’re just focused and ready to take it into the next game.

“We have done very well in our games. We just need to use that confidence throughout the season. “We’re all good, everyone’s good, everyone’s smiling and everyone’s happy. Now we’re just looking forward to the season.”
