Man United star: This is what Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic can do for us

MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Michael Carrick has tipped the club's new summer signings to propel Jose Mourinho's side back to the top of the Premier League.

Paul Pogba re-joins Manchester United for world-record £89m

United completed the £89million return of Paul Pogba earlier this month, making him their fourth arrival after Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mhitaryan and Eric Bailly.

Mourinho is eager to rebuild the club after three difficult years at Old Trafford, and has started strongly with wins in the Community Shield and Premier League over Leicester and Bournemouth respectively.

And Carrick, who has won the league title five times throughout his career so far, believes United's new boys can help the club soar back to the lofty heights of old.

"It’s certainly been a good window with the four top players coming in," Carrick told MUTV.

I think, in an ideal world, you want your squad ready as early as possible and settled. We’ve managed to do that and hopefully it’s going to make a massive difference. It’s a really terrific squad in terms of quality and depth now

"I think they are all going to add hugely to the squad.

"For me, the key thing is it is done and dusted now and there is not going to be that speculation all the way up until the deadline. Our main targets are in, it seems, and we are a squad now – this is what we’re going to go forward achieving things with.

Pogba, suspended for the 3-1 win against Bournemouth last week, could make his second debut for the club against Southampton at Old Trafford tonight (8pm).

Michael Carrick has tipped the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to have a huge impact at the club

Mourinho confirmed yesterday that the former Juventus midfielder was now fully fit, but warned fans not to expect too much too soon.

“I’m not expecting the first time he touches the ball for him to dribble five guys and score a wonder goal," Mourinho said.

"I expect the first time he touches the ball to make a correct pass, then make a good selection of passes, a good choice, a good simple execution and keep the game fluid.”

Ibrahimovic is also set to feature after two goals in his first two games, while Mkhitaryan could make his first start after appearing from the substitutes bench against Bournemouth and Leicester.
