MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho singled out Marcus Rashford for praise after his side’s 2-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City on Saturday.

Rashford was introduced at half time for the disappointing Jesse Lingard but couldn’t help United salvage a point.

However, he did catch the eye with several mazy runs forward and had a goal correctly ruled out for offside after his shot had struck Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the way in.

And United manager Mourinho was delighted with the 18-year-old’s contribution, hinting he could start their Europa League clash with Feyenoord on Thursday.

“Some of the boys they felt the dimension of the game and everything around it … the derby, the game, the focus of attention,” Mourinho said.

“Some of the guys, they felt it. It is nothing to do with experience and age.

“The kid (Rashford) looks like he is playing for the Under-18s against Salford City.

“Every individual reacts to demands of the occasion in different ways.”

Rashford starred under old United boss Louis van Gaal last season as the club won the FA Cup.

His exploits saw him picked for England’s Euro 2016 campaign under former manager Roy Hodgson.

But the youngster has been overlooked for a place in Mourinho’s starting line-up so far this season, having come off the bench in games against Leicester, Hull and City
