Jose Mourinho: This is why Man Utd's Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not playing against Fenerbahce

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has revealed Henrikh Mkhitaryan did not start against Fenerbahce because he lacks match fitness.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: This is how you pronounce my name

Mkhitaryan has so far started just one game for Manchester United since joining from Borussia Dortmund for £26million during the summer.

The 27-year-old has been hampered by a thigh injury since last month, but he returned to training three weeks ago.

Yesterday Mourinho insisted the midfielder was fit again but he was not named in the squad for tonight’s clash with Fenerbahce.

And Mourinho has now revealed he left out the Armenia international for the Europa League clash because he lacks match fitness.

“One thing is fit and not injured, another thing is match fitness, match intensity and ready to play this game,” Mourinho told BT Sport.

“I play with Lingard and Martial and I have Rashford and Memphis on the bench, I cannot play with everyone at the same time.

“Mikhi has not played for a long time.”
