Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger 'devastated' for Mathieu Debuchy and reveals extent of injury

ARSENE WENGER has admitted he is devastated after Mathieu Debuchy was forced off with yet another hamstring injury.

Debuchy was starting his first game in a year for and was a surprise inclusion to face Bournemouth.

However, 15 minutes into the game, the right-back was forced off with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Gabriel.

And has admitted he and the rest of the squad are 'devastated' for the 31-year-old.

"When you see the heart he puts into his job and the quality of his commitment and you see how he is now in the dressing room we are all devastated," Wenger told Sky Sports.

"On top of that he was very sharp and started very well.

"It was a backheel that killed him, that's the most dangerous for your hamstring.

"The strong backheel, it was quite an outstanding pass but he did it on that."

Debuchy has made just 22 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Newcastle in 2014.

He spent last season on loan with French side Bordeaux but was again trouble with hamstring problems, making just nine Ligue 1 appearances.
