Jose Mourinho reveals love for Everton's Goodison Park ground

JOSE MOURINHO says he relishes managing at Goodison Park - because it holds a place in Portuguese football folklore.

The boss has previously claimed wins at Goodison Park with Chelsea - but oversaw a 3-1 defeat for the Blues on Merseyside last season.

The stadium is the site of one of Portugal's greatest triumphs when they beat North Korea 5-3 in the 1966 World Cup quarter-finals, having at one stage been 3-0 down.

And Mourinho admits he is looking forward to being on the touchline this weekend.

"I managed against (Roberto) Martinez’s Everton, (David) Moyes’ Everton and it is always difficult," Mourinho said.

"It is always beautiful with a great crowd and a great stadium which is historical for my country as  scored four goals in one match there during the World Cup in ‘66.

"I had so many great matches there. Some I lost, some I won, but always a great match.

"The way United is playing, combined with the way Everton always try to play means it should be a very good match.”

Everton can leapfrog United into sixth place in the Premier League if Ronald Koeman's men win on Sunday.
