Arsene Wenger gives injury update on Arsenal star Danny Welbeck

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has revealed Danny Welbeck will return to full training next week.

Arsenal star Welbeck has been out of action since May with a knee injury. 

The England striker required surgery after picking up the injury in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City and missed Euro 2016.

The former Manchester United man was expected to be out of action until the early weeks of next year.

But Arsene Wenger has now revealed the 26-year-old will return to training next week.

However, the Frenchman stressed Welbeck still has a long way to go to reach full match fitness. 

“Danny Welbeck is one week away from completing normal training," Wenger said.

"To be back in the squad; that will take some time because he wasn't played for a long, long time."

Welbeck has struggled with injuries since since joining the Gunners in 2014.

The striker spent 10 months out with a knee problem last season, while he missed a large chunk of his first year at the club with a thigh injury.
