Gibbs started against West Brom in the 1-0 win on Boxing Day but was forced off in the second half with a knee injury.

While Walcott missed Monday's clash with a calf complaint, which Wenger is expecting will keep the winger out of action against Palace.

But centre-half Shkodran Mustafi is back in contention for a starting spot after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up against Stoke earlier this month.

“I don’t think Kieran Gibbs will be available,” Wenger said. “Apart from that Mustafi is fit again and we have one or two uncertainties.

“A few with flu but everybody else should be available.

“Gibbs has a knee problem and Walcott has a calf problem, short term, I don’t think he will available this week.”

Wenger admits striker Danny Welbeck is also closing in on a return to full fitness, having been out of action with a serious knee injury in May.

The Gunners manager added: “Welbeck is fit and sharp. He is in training and he looks quite good.”
