The Manchester United boss expressed his frustration at the quick turnaround between fixtures.

Having travelled to Hull for their EFL Cup semi-final second leg last night, the Red Devils must now prepare to take on Wigan this Sunday (4pm) at Old Trafford.

Mourinho named a strong side at the KCOM Stadium but saw his team lose their 17-game unbeaten record following a 2-1 defeat.

Overnight, United’s squad travelled back to Manchester ahead of their FA Cup fourth round clash, and the Portuguese coach intends to rotate his XI against the Championship strugglers.

"It's another difficult game against Wigan,” Mourinho told MUTV

“They didn't play, they are fresh, preparing and will be ready with special motivation for Warren [Joyce] and his players.

“Now we go home, it'll take three hours to arrive, and have to prepare again.

“We will change some players and give some opportunities, some fresh legs to the team and, hopefully, we can do it."

Jose Mourinho could rest a number of first-team stars at Old Trafford, with a return to Premier League action on the horizon too.

United play Marco Silva’s Hull again on Wednesday (8pm), and they can’t afford a slip up in their pursuit of a top-four finish.
