Gary Neville: This Manchester United outcast can be an Old Trafford great

GARY NEVILLE has sent Luke Shaw a ringing endorsement after Jose Mourinho confirmed the Manchester United defender will feature against Bournemouth tomorrow (12.30pm).

Jose Mourinho: Luke Shaw must wait his turn

Jose Mourinho has questioned Shaw's mental toughness in the past with the defender struggling with injuries.

The England international started in Manchester United's first five Premier League fixtures under Mourinho but hasn't featured since October.

Shaw arrived at United in 2014 with the expectation that he would go on to live up to his promise shown during his time at Southampton.

But he has made just 42 appearances in all competitions in the two-and-a-half years he has been at Old Trafford.

At just 21 years old, Shaw has time on his side to fulfil his potential.

And Gary Neville has been a constant supporter of the defender to put his injury woes behind him.

He tweeted: "Come on @LukeShaw23. You can be a United great.. go for it.."

Neville's message of support came after Mourinho confirmed Shaw will be in the squad to face Bournemouth tomorrow.

And the United boss praised the work Shaw has put in on the training field to put him in contention.

"Luke is working hard, he's trying to improve," Mourinho said.

"He has improved from a physical point of view by good dedication and specific work.

"Now he needs some opportunities to feel alive, he needs minutes on the pitch to show evolution is not physical but globally because a player is not just a better physical condition.

"Luke Shaw is selected for tomorrow, so you won't need to have the guys at the Lowry taking pictures of the players, to see which ones are on the list."
