Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: I would love to do this

ARSENE WENGER would love to silence his critics at Arsenal - but is easier said than done.

Arsenal fans take to the streets to protest against Wenger

The Gunners boss came under more scrutiny ahead of tonight’s FA Cup clash with Lincoln.

Fans marched in protest outside the Emirates with Wenger’s future still unsure.

The Frenchman has a two-year extension on the table, but Arsenal’s disappointments this season in the Champions League and the Premier League sees supporters calling for a change of leadership.

Following Tuesday’s 5-1 thrashing by Bayern Munich though, the Gunners enjoyed a 5-0 victory over their non-league opponents today.

Lincoln held firm for the majority of the first half before Arsenal finally took control and earned themselves a place at Wembley.

And when questioned about whether he has kept critics off his back, Arsene Wenger had a realistic assessment.

“You should sit in my seat for a while and then you would understand that it is an impossible job to keep everybody quiet,” Wenger said.

“Ideally, I would love to.

“But unfortunately, practically, it is very difficult. But we try.”

Arsenal chiefs are said to be demanding a definitive answer from Wenger by the end of March on if he intends to continue next season.

But with the Gunners still fighting for a top-four finish and FA Cup glory, the manager has plenty to focus on in the latter stages of the campaign.
