Mourinho reveals why David De Gea did not play Sunderland

De Gea has been on Real Madrid's radar since he joined Manchester United.

The La Liga giants weren't put off by the deal to sign him collapsing in 2015, and they believe they have finally got their man.

De Gea will replace Keylor Navas as Zinedine Zidane's No.1 as Florentino Perez plots an overhaul of his squad.

Marca claim an agreement has been reached with De Gea already and that he told Jose Mourinho of his desire to leave three weeks ago.

De Gea was dropped in the aftermath but has since returned to the team having proved he is still focused on helping United reach next season's Champions League.

At the time Mourinho reacted angrily and publicly told him to wait until the summer to decide his future.

"I'm not interested in talking about speculation, I don't think he should be interested in talking about it either," Mourinho said.

Jose Mourinho is resigned to losing David De Gea this summer

"We're playing against very important teams, every game is crucial and I don't see that David is having any problems with this.

"The end of the season is the time when players can think about what will happen to their careers."

But De Gea is said to be set on a move back to Madrid with his girlfriend already looking at houses.

De Gea played for Real's big rivals Atletico before joining United but is happy to move to the Bernabeu.

And Marca claim Mourinho has found his replacement: Joe Hart.

The Manchester City goalkeeper is on loan at Torino but is keen to return to the Premier League next season.

However it remains to be seen as to whether City would sell Hart to United.

But United will bank around £60m for the sale of De Gea as he overtakes Gianluigi Buffon as the most expensive keeper in history.
