Paul Pogba has spent some time away from the Manchester United squad following the death of his father this week.

The Frenchman missed Wednesday night's 0-0 draw with Southampton at St Mary's and he was expected to miss Sunday's clash with Crystal Palace (3pm).

However, Jose Mourinho has confirmed the £89million midfielder is back and will line up against Sam Allardyce's side.

"Paul is fine. Strong guy. Strong mentality," Mourinho said.

"He is learning how to live after his father passed away but he is strong and he knows that he needs to play next Sunday because he doesn’t play, doesn’t train for a long time and he needs minutes on the pitch.

"He plays against Palace."

, however, did not have good news on some players, revealing Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini are both touch-and-go.

“Smalling has a problem, a smalll problem that I think it is no probem for next week, but is a porblem fo the weekend," he added.

“Marouane is a question mark. We wait for today’s scans.

"[Timothy] Fosu-Mensah plays Sunday and if the reaction is good the he is a new option for the final.”

However, Mourinho has confirmed he will pad the rest of the squad out with youth players, using the final game of the season as an opportunity for them to gain Premier League experience.

"Joel [Perreira] and [Kieran] O’Hara. [Demetri] Mitchell. [Josh] Harrop. [Angel] Gomes. [Scott] McTominay. [Timothy] Fosu-Mensah. Axel Tuanzebe [in the squad]. Lots of them together, no. I will bring three or four first team players to play one half where I can give some experience to the team.

“For the kids it will be a great experience to play in the Premier League in the last match of the season.

"It will be a big occasion but I think the best for the young player is in the middle of an experienced structure, where he can be supported. To play so many kids at the same time I don’t think it’s good because there is a big difference in quality strength and experience.”
