Alexandre Lacazette has today completed his move to Arsenal for a club-record fee believed to be in the region of £52million.

A club statement confirmed the striker has put pen to paper on a long-term contract, understood to be five years.

And Arsene Wenger has admitted he is delighted to have secured a deal for the 26-year-old who has been a proven goalscorer in Ligue 1 over the last few seasons.

“We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group," Wenger said.

"He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher.

"As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. 

"So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”

A club statement read: "Alexandre Lacazette has agreed to join us on a long-term contract, for an undisclosed fee.

"He is expected to travel with the tour party to Sydney this weekend and is likely to make his home debut in the Emirates Cup on July 29 or July 30.

"The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes."

Lacazette spent seven years with Lyon, boasting an impressive 129 goals in 275 appearances for the French side.

He earned his first cap for France in June 2013 and has since gone on to make 11 appearances for Les Bleus.

Predominantly a centre-forward, he can also operate on the right and left wing, making him a versatile attacking asset for the Gunners.
